Questions we get asked
If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather talk you out of work you do not need than sell it to you.
General
What area do you cover?
Glenbrook to Mount Victoria, the full Blue Mountains corridor. We are based in Wentworth Falls, so we are local rather than driving up from Penrith.
Can I book more than one service in one visit?
That is the whole idea. Gutters, roof, chimney, solar and windows in one visit means one booking, one crew and one day where someone is at your place, instead of five.
Are you insured?
Yes, and certified for working at height. Exact cover details are listed on the About page.
How much does it cost?
Prices depend on the size of the home, the roof pitch and access. Indicative starting prices are on the pricing page, and a proper quote is free.
Do I need to be home?
For most exterior work, no. We will let you know when we are coming and send photos of the finished job. Chimney sweeping and interior window cleaning do need access.
How do I pay?
On completion. We also offer instalments and an annual plan that spreads routine work across the year.
What if I am not happy with the work?
Tell us and we will come back and put it right.
How far ahead do I need to book?
It depends on the season. Chimney sweeping in autumn and gutter clearing before summer are our two busiest runs, and both book out. Everything else is usually quicker.
Gutter Cleaning
How often should gutters be cleaned in the Blue Mountains?
More often than on the coastal plain. Most homes here need two visits a year, and homes under heavy tree cover often need more. The critical one is before bushfire season.
Do you clean gutters on a two storey house?
Yes. Working at height is routine for us and we carry the insurance and certification for it.
What do you do with the debris?
It leaves with us. You are not left with bags of wet leaf litter to deal with.
Roof Cleaning
Will pressure washing damage my roof?
High pressure can, which is why we soft wash. Low pressure with the right treatment lifts the growth without stripping the tile surface or driving water under the laps.
How long before the moss comes back?
Treating it at the root buys years rather than months. In deep shade under heavy tree cover it will return faster, which is where a maintenance plan makes sense.
Chimney Sweeping
When should I get the chimney swept?
Before you start burning for the season. Autumn is the window, and it is also when we are busiest, so ring early.
How often does a flue need sweeping?
Once a year for normal household use. More if you burn hard all winter, or if the wood you are burning is not properly seasoned.
Is it messy?
It should not be. The work area is sealed and protected before anything starts, and we leave the room as we found it.
Solar Panel Cleaning
Does rain not clean them?
Rain moves loose dust. It does not shift bonded grime, sap, bird mess or the lichen that grows along the frame edges, and those are what cost you output.
How often should panels be cleaned?
Once a year suits most homes here. Under heavy tree cover or near constant bird traffic, twice.
Will it void my warranty?
Purified water with no abrasives and no high pressure is the method manufacturers ask for. Aggressive cleaning is what causes problems.
House Washing
What is the difference between soft wash and pressure wash?
Pressure wash uses force. Soft wash uses a treatment at low pressure to do the work chemically. On painted, rendered and timber surfaces soft wash is the right choice, because pressure strips paint and drives water into joints.
Is it safe for my garden?
Yes. Plants are wet down before and rinsed after, and we work with treatments chosen for that.
Can you do it before we sell?
That is one of the most common reasons people call. A full exterior wash before photos is the cheapest presentation work available on a house.
Window Cleaning
Do you do the inside as well?
Yes, on request. Most people book exterior on a schedule and add interior once or twice a year.
Can you reach second storey windows?
Yes. Purified water pole systems reach most of them from the ground safely, and we are certified and insured for the rest.
Pressure Washing
Will it damage my pavers or decking?
Not at the right pressure. We test on a small area first and adjust to the surface. Timber in particular gets a much gentler setting than concrete.
Can you seal the concrete afterwards?
Ask us when you book. On a driveway just cleaned back to bare concrete it is worth doing.
